To friends and members of Chess Collectors International
Dear Friends and Members of CCI
Our next international meeting will be in the beautiful central European city of Prague, the birth place of world champion Wilhelm Steinitz in May 1836. There is much history to be seen as Prague Castle dates from the end of the 9th century and the city flourished during the 14th-century reign (1346–1378) of Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor and the king of Bohemia of the new Luxembourg dynasty. As King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, he transformed Prague into an imperial capital and it was at that time the third-largest city in Europe after Rome and Constantinople.
The German July meeting in Selb was again very successful and much enjoyed by everyone who attended. We anticipate a high attendance for this meeting as many members and friends have already indicated their wish to participate. Early bookings are therefore advised, to take advantage of the special discounted room rates. Members of the Ken Whyld Association, http://www.kwabc.org/ which is dedicated to the collection of chess books are again cordially invited.
We will have a chess market open for 2 to 3 hours in the conference hotel; please bring chess items for sale or exchange and let us know if you wish to participate so that we can arrange sufficient space. To cover the cost of the room a small contribution of 15 euros per table will be collected. A blindfold simultaneous display over seven boards by a Grandmaster will also be held and a charge per board will be made for this event which may be recorded by Czech Television.
Our convention hotel will be The Grandior in the centre of Prague where a small contingent of rooms is being held for us.
Grandior Hotel, Na Porici 42, 11000 Prague.
Our rate per night including breakfast and all taxes is 155 euros per double room increasing to 185 euros for a Deluxe room. Once our allotment of rooms is booked participants will have to pay the web site published rates less a 10% discount. Hotel garage parking is available at an additional cost.
Booking details will follow shortly.
